Alex is completely self-taught in his artistic endeavors. Frustrated by formal art
instruction in school and out, Alex spent his early years almost
exclusively sketching with pencil. He didn't begin painting until
he was twenty years old, beginning with oil paints, but quickly
deciding that acrylic was more to his liking.
Camping, canoeing and
hiking through Manitoba's wild places and travelling through
Canada as well as the United States, provide Alex with pleasure
and inspiration for his nature art.
Alex is quite adept with several different mediums,
but the majority of his works are acrylic
on canvas and watercolour on paper.
